How much does Swahili to English translation or dubbing cost?
Transcription is $0.40 per audio-minute, transcription plus translation is $0.90, and a full dub (transcription, translation and a synthesized voice track) is $1.50 per audio-minute. The first 5 minutes every month are free on every plan, and a Pro or Premium plan discounts every minute beyond that.
What's the difference between verbatim and clean read?
Clean read is fully cleaned-up, grammatically readable text - the default, and what most subtitling and dubbing work uses. Verbatim keeps every false start, filler word and stutter exactly as spoken, which is what legal or research use typically needs instead. You choose per order when you submit it.
How long does an order take?
It depends on length and what's already in the queue - a first AI draft is usually ready within minutes of upload, then a human editor reviews it line by line against the source audio before it's marked ready, which is the part that scales with length and complexity rather than being instant.
Is my uploaded file safe?
Every upload is checked against its real file signature (not just trusted by its file name), scanned for malware, and validated as genuine audio or video before it's ever processed - nothing is taken on trust.
Can you clone a speaker's voice for the dubbed track?
Yes, but only with your explicit confirmation that you hold the rights and consent to use that voice - that confirmation is required before any voice-cloning order runs, not an afterthought.
Do I need to install anything?
No - Kauli is entirely web-based. Upload a file or paste a YouTube link from your browser, and download the finished transcript, subtitles or dubbed track the same way.
What languages do you support?
Swahili, English, Kikuyu (Gikuyu) today, translating into English or Swahili. Kikuyu goes through an extra manual transcription step since no speech-recognition model handles it yet - translation and voicing still run the same AI-plus-human-review pipeline as everything else, it just costs a bit more per minute to cover that step. We only add a language once we've verified the pipeline actually works on it, not on request alone - if you need one we don't list yet, tell us and we'll look into it.
Can I get a real human voice actor instead of an AI-synthesized voice?
Yes - add it to any full dub order for an extra $2.50 per audio-minute. The AI dub still gets made and delivered right away either way; our team casts and delivers the human version separately once it's ready, which takes longer than the automated dub.
Can you dub a video with multiple speakers - a man, a woman, children?
Yes. Each speaker gets tagged (automatically when the transcription provider detects distinct speakers, or by a human editor listening to the audio) and then assigned their own consistent voice, so the same character keeps the same voice for the whole video instead of one generic voice reading every line. It's a real editorial step our team handles as part of every dub, not an extra you have to request.
